What should I expect in the first session?
During the first session, I will begin gathering information to assess what is bringing you into therapy and how I may be able to assist you. I will gather history, assess strengths and sources of support, and explain the therapeutic process. Most importantly, I will try to get to know you and focus on establishing a comfortable therapeutic relationship. We will also have time to fill out some brief paperwork as well as answering any questions you may have for me.
Typically, my assessment lasts anywhere between two to four sessions. By the end of that phase, I will provide my therapeutic impressions and we will develop a treatment plan to start addressing goals.
How long will I be in therapy?
The length of therapy will depend on your specific presenting concerns and the goals we create together. Sessions usually occur on a weekly basis and are 50 minutes in length. As we start to achieve treatment goals, sessions will begin to taper off. If you would like to schedule an appointment or talk further, please feel free to contact me.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I am an In-Network Provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Choice Preferred PPO. With other insurance providers, appointments are considered ‘Out of Network’. If you would like to use your out of network benefits, a detailed statement will be provided with all the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance provider.
What is Yoga-Informed Therapy?
As a previous ballet dancer and avid yoga enthusiast, I have experienced first-hand the benefits of movement in relieving stress, processing internal experience, and connecting more deeply with self. As a result, I believe there is benefit in combining the practice of yoga with the process of psychotherapy when desired by the client. Yoga-informed psychotherapy allows me to incorporate movement and yoga postures in or out of session that may alleviate symptoms, create internal balance, and facilitate freedom from emotional burden.
